Boeing sanctioned by NTSB for releasing details of Alaska Airlines door blowout investigation

Boeing is being sanctioned by the National Transportation Safety Board after breaking an agreement by disclosing non-public details of the agency's investigation into the Alaska Airlines mid-air door panel blowout.

The NTSB on Thursday said that a Boeing executive, who wasn't identified, disclosed non-public information from the investigation during a media briefing on Tuesday, and gave an analysis of some facts that had previously been released. It noted that both actions are prohibited according to an agreement that Boeing had signed that provided the aircraft maker with party status to the investigation.

A powerful SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket boosted a hurricane-hunting GOES weather satellite into orbit Tuesday, the final member of a four-satellite fleet at the heart of an $11 billion upgrade to the nation's forecasting infrastructure.

"NOAA's geostationary satellites are an indispensable tool for protecting the United States and the one billion people who live and work in the Americas," said Pam Sullivan, GOES program director. "They provide a constant real-time view of weather and dangerous environmental phenomena across the western hemisphere."

South Korea says apparent North Korean hypersonic missile test ends in mid-air explosion

Seoul — North Korea test-fired what appeared to be a hypersonic missile on Wednesday, but the launch ended in a mid-air explosion, an official from Seoul's Joint Chiefs of Staff said. The early morning launch came just hours after Pyongyang sent another flurry of trash-bearing balloons southward, this time forcing a three-hour halt to flights in and out of South Korea's Incheon airport.

The missile took off from an area in or around North Korea's capital Pyongyang at about 5:30 am (4:30 p.m. Eastern on Tuesday) and South Korean and U.S. intelligence agencies were conducting a detailed analysis, Seoul's Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a statement.

Biden's new immigration order restricts asylum claims along the border. Here's how it works.

President Biden on Tuesday unveiled new executive action authorizing U.S. immigration officials to deport large numbers of migrants without processing their asylum claims, announcing what is arguably the most restrictive border policy by a Democratic president in recent history.

Mr. Biden's aggressive move suspends the processing of asylum claims between official entry points along the southern border, allowing U.S. authorities to more quickly reject and deport migrants who enter the country unlawfully.

"If an individual chooses not to use our legal pathways, if they choose to come without permission and against the law, they'll be restricted from receiving asylum and staying in the United States," the president said in remarks at the White House.

The other candidates say they've been preparing for a debate with or without him. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who has consistently polled second behind Trump is steeling himself for attacks from other candidates.
